home / our service / developing content / consider your audience
Although this sounds like a relatively straight forward aspect of developing a web site, ask yourself this question: "How often do you visit a web site only to find it doesn't provide the information your looking for?".
When talking about 'Content', at RSD we take this to mean all aspects of 'web information', wether it be straight forward textual information or imagery or information relating to outstanding orders, order tracking or content searching.
One of the key aspects to developing a good web site is to 'consider your audience'. Here's a simple exercise: put yourself in the minds eye of your audience, you've come across your web site, what do you expect to find?
This exercise sounds a lot easier than it is in practice. Depending on the size of your organization we often recommend that this task is carried out by a group of individuals, give them a few hours to think about it and then bring those ideas back to the table - throw them around, discuss the different thoughts - what do you come up with?
One of the primary reasons we suggest you carry out this exercise is that you view your organization from the inside - you know it and how it operates. Your audience doesn't, it may therefore not be immediately obvious to them how to access the information they require from your web site.
